Nico Vega, Peasant among MTVU’s Freshmen videos

Submitted by admin on March 5, 2009 – 11:19 am2 Comments

For this week’s MTVU’s Freshman videos to vote on, we noticed a few that really stood out – namely, Nico Vega’s “Burn Burn” and Peasant’s “We’re Good”.

Nico Vega needs no introduction. Their carnal rock edge reaches new levels every time Aja Volkman sings. This video not only musters a quality single, but it captures chaos in one shoot.

Nico Vega – Burn Burn

The small-town artist of Damien DeRose and his band Peasant, perhaps deserves some explaining. Although DeRose could probably go by his name, Peasant exemplifies another side of the man and artist. Much like the video below, the music nags at relationship issues in a way that appears to be more of a person struggling rather than a person looking in. His songs carry a heavy weight with them, much like Elliot Smith or Keith Goodwin.
