Mongolian Mixtape Marathon Hitting The Road

Submitted by Justin on June 15, 2009 – 6:32 pmOne Comment

mongolianmixtapeMany of the remixes we host on our site come from talented DJs who turn something good into something great.  Now thousands of these DJs can make a difference for the people on the other side of the world with their mixes.

The Mongolian Mixtape Marathon, which starts on July 11 in London and ends hundreds of hours later in Mongolia, should be right up the alley of anyone who has ever mixed music together as the mixes will be podcasted during the trip and subsequently placed on the site after the trip.

DJs submit a mix with a donation of £1 or more. These funds contribute towards our essential costs and allow us to donate a vehicle to the people of Mongolia. We listen to your mixes all the way from London to Mongolia. And they’re podcasted to the world!

Two of the drivers, Alastair Sloan and Thomas MacThomas, have a daunting 800 hour trip in front of them and plan to stay motivated along the way by playing mixes from any and every DJ who submits a mix (preferably an hour long).  Teams joining the cause are asking for a total of £3000 which will help with travel costs while enabling a majority of the money to go towards Save The Children.

For more info on this music-oriented cause that benefits Save the Children in Mongolia, visit their site here.  If you wish to just donate, click here.
