The Flaming Lips To Cover Love and Rockets

Despite the amount of covers that resurface every day of our lives, few are notable and can hardly be kept track of.  Thankfully, The Flaming Lips are still exploring groups they would like to pay tribute to for the influences or marks on music that have befallen us in the past.  Along side other notable groups such as Frank Black and A Place To Bury Strangers, a tribute album is forthcoming and due out in July.

Love and Rockets do not quite fit the mold The Flaming Lips would pair their lyrics or music to, but then again, who really is? Pair that up with a group that 90% of music listeners have ceased to recognize (or just haven’t lived through the glory days of their time) with a band that has been through practically everything and we have ourselves a winner.  You can preview a few tracks on the album’s official MySpace page.
