The Radio Dept Release “David”

With a cult following akin to sophisticated dreamy post-punk music (like that of American Analog Set), The Radio Dept’s sullen song composition somehow adds a bright spot to our list of anticipated summer releases. After posting a few unfounded dates on their have website last year, the band promised and hoped to have something done in late 2008. To a bit of disappointment and mounting anticipation, we left last year with all but one single off of their upcoming album Clinging To A Scheme, “Freddie and the Trojan Horse”. Now that the buzz is out once again with their first single from their forthcoming follow up to Pet Grief, we’re treated to an early look at the album through “David”.
The song itself will lend itself kindly to those checking Labrador every week looking for a release date for the album. It carries the same sad lost love theme as past album, but with a sprightly keyboard and the same snappy drum synths that make The Radio Dept so easy to listen to. This first inkling of the album will be officially available on June 24th while a release date for Clinging To A Scheme is still waiting to be announced.
