Iceland Lands Another Winner With Seabear

Sigur Ros and Riceboy Sleeps have enabled us to look at Iceland in a new light.  We saw ambient, oxygen-fresh instruments painting what we have come to see as Icelandic indie music.   When Seabear came to us in 2007 after their release of The Ghost That Carried Us Away.

Unlike their fellow countrymen musicians, Seabear sometimes sings English and they are a bit more folksy, thanks to being a group with seven members.  This group mentality allows for multiple lead singers with an earthy setting surrounding their work as banjos, chimes, harmonicas and other simple instruments caress every note and lyric.

Seabear is slated to released their second full-length album in January of 2010 through Morr Music, who also represents The Wooden Birds and Surf City.  For more on the group, check out their MySpace since their regular site, seabearia.com, isn’t running yet.
