New Album Releases For Tuesday 9/22/09

Sea Wolf

You can only listen to so much music in a week, and this week you’ll just have to manage to listen to more than you’re used to.

With an overload of music this week, we’re most excited about the sounds Sea Wolf has to offer.  With their previous album Leaves In The River, Sea Wolf’s 2007 album that blew the leaves right off the trees once Fall hit.  This year, Sea Wolf is back with their second full-length album White Water, White Bloom.

Also this week is the New York sensation, The Pains of Being Pure At Heart, whose story-telling arena rock is more palatable than we could have ever imagined.  Given their latest string of singles, they have finallydropped a substantial EP for us titled Higher Than The Stars.

We recommend you not stop your search there, but check out Mae, who have been one of our longstanding pop-punk groups we always enjoying hearing from.  With Morning here, we can hear where the band has decided to go next.  Substantially changing their sound from when they started back in 2003 under Tooth & Nail, they’re back with their EP under the Cell label.

Lastly check out Montreal’s Islands return with Vapours.  The spastic pop group of Nick Diamond became popular with “Creeper” and have since further developed their unusually pleasing composition.  David Gray feels reborn with his latest album Draw the Line showing a new edge on his sound particularly with his first single, “Fugitive”.  Its White Ladder-ish, we swear.  Monsters of Folk are out with their self-titled debut and Why? is back with Eskimo Snow.

Had enough?  Too bad – Vertical Horizon, Three Days Grace, Basement Jaxx, Nick Cave, and Rufus Wainwright are out with new music this week.  Get busy.
