Zero 7 Band Pic

Once again this week we have oodles of music to sift through, so let’s get right to it.

One of the better known groups on this list is Zero 7 who’s Yeah Ghost is out this week.  After years of making music, these guys are back at it again with their smooth beats and cutting-edge sound.

If you like some beach reggae-styled music listen to State Radio whose album Let It Go will offer all of the chill you need.  If you’re looking for some toned down music out of Portland, The Shaky Hands seem to have put together quite a masterpiece with Let It Die.  This one may be a barnburner.

If you’re looking for some pop-punk look no further.  Swellers are out with Ups & Downsizing.  If you haven’t heard of Chromeo, its time you tune your ears.  Chromeo is now out with their own DJ Kicks after endless amounts of remixes released over the past few years.  Looking for more electronica?  Check out DJ Rap’s latest.

Lastly, our pick of the week is Memory Tapes for their sheer unique sound they put out on their latest Seek Magic, particularly with their two-fold song, ”Bicycle”, listed below.

Enjoy the new music this week!

  • [...] Featured in their trailer below is “Wake Up” by The Arcade Fire off of their 2004 album Funeral.  The soundtrack for the movie by Karen O and the Kids is out this week and can be downloaded here.  Check out our new releases right here. [...]

    I’ve searched everywhere…where did you get info that Zero 7 was on the Where the Wild Things Are soundtrack???

  • admin says:

    Sorry about that, had to take it down. I believe we were misinformed. Looks like Karen O and the Kids are doing the entire soundtrack. Thanks for pointing that one out… :)

  • Nick says:

    Yeah, I confuse easily… ;) I found this on RS about the collaboration on the WTWTA soundtrack;

    “And Rolling Stone has also learned the list of Kids’ rockers includes her YYYs bandmates Brian Chase and Nick Zinner along with Tristan Bechet (Services), Bradford Cox (Deerhunter), Dean Fertita (Queens of the Stone Age, The Dead Weather, The Raconteurs), Aaron Hemphill (Liars), Greg Kurstin (The Bird and the Bee), Jack Lawrence (The Dead Weather, The Raconteurs, The Greenhornes), Oscar Michel (Gris Gris), Imaad Wasif (New Folk Implosion, Alaska). An untrained children’s choir contributes to the songs and soundscapes”

  • admin says:

    Wow… I’ll be honest. I had a mild interest about the soundtrack, but had no idea who the ‘Kids’ actually were. Some great info right there – thanks!
