Geographer Strikes Gold With “Kites”

Submitted by Brendan on October 25, 2009 – 10:15 amOne Comment

Geographer's highly talented Mike Deni, Nathan Blaz and Brian Ostreicher

Rarely do we find a song so compelling and so masterfully done that our world briefly revolves around one track as if our minds were put under a crazed spell; It’s really that good. Geographer, a band who hails out of San Francisco, CA have kept the ball rolling after their highly praised 2008 album “Innocent Ghosts” (check their MySpace for reviews).

Creating the perfect storm with an 80s electronica Nintendo taboo along side beautifully strung cello (Nathan Blaz), the combination akin to groups we’ve fallen head-over-heels before, particularly like that of diversified groups such as Paper Route, who we were lucky to catch earlier this year.  The electronica / acoustic combination is thrilling in itself, but to catch Mike Deni’s vocals seals the deal.

Now with a fantastic album behind them, it seems the trio are paving a new path with their 7 inch Kites, released on October 2nd.  Keep an eye out for tour dates and we couldn’t be more excited for what’s to come!
