The Muppets Rock LCD Soundsystem’s ‘Dance Yrself Clean’
They’ve shown up once again in all of their glory. The last time we saw Jim Henson’s lifetime masterpiece, The Muppets, perform was with Weezer in their video “Keep Fishin’” (naturally, Animal played the drums).
In their latest appearance, it appears Monster continues his reign on the drums and some sort of Grover / Cookie Monster jams on his Korg keyboard only to later be found strewn on the beach amidst a disasterous scene of empty beer cans like the rock stars they think they are. No, no no… Jim Henson would never allow this in his lifetime. Alas, this video is an unofficial DIY Pop Video directed and produced by Javier Douglas, Filmed by Joel Roberts / Javier Douglas and edited by the same two fellas. As unconventional as this may all seem, its quite well-meshed between the actual video and live performance.
LCD Soundsystem’s ’Dance Yrself Clean‘ really kicks in at 3:08. Its been a peeve for me over the course of the last year that as much as I love this song, the loudness is so lopsided from the beginning. It unreasonably launches into intergalactic sound levels that make you jolt to turn your volume down. On the flip-side, this song hands down, has the best synth bass-line of 2010. All else aside, everything seems to be happening perfectly – Miss Piggy makes out with Kermit, Animal and cookie monster go on an all-day binge by the shore and find themselves at a club later on that night. Its the grown-up Muppets we all had an inkling to see. Enjoy our screenshot photos and the video below!
