New Music Releases For Tuesday 6/14/2011
Since 2009′s Begone Dull Care, we’ve hung to nearly every word we could on Junior Boys. Now, with the new album headlining the week’s list, it’s time to let everyone in on the secret: electronic music works, but it’s all about knowing how to slow the tempo down and keep things moving. It’s All True packs that punch of sped-up beats trickled around a simmered, synthetic groove.
Owl City on the other hand, with All Things Bright & Beautiful out, generally delivers for those with a pop fetish via somewhat robotic vocals. When “Fireflies” topped the charts two years ago, other artists reached out to the group for collaboration such as Armin van Buuren and Shawn Chrystopher. For a group that seems to turn beats into a gumdrop melody, they can really go in any direction.
While many of the other groups this week are new to us, we have to recommend Is Tropical and their videos. Planningtorock releases W, and as one of our best band names so far this year, make sure to check out the experimental effort. Enjoy the week in music!
