New Music Releases For Tuesday 8/16/2011
This week provides one of the most robust and talent-heavy weeks in recent memory thanks to artists either teaming up (Mister Heavenly) or going solo (Gold Leaves) with new projects.
While Grant Olsen’s (Arthur & Yu) Gold Leaves launches for many for the first time, we were fortunate enough to get a hold of The Ornament a month ago and absolutely loved it. Also, the solo work of Here We Go Magic‘s Luke Temple has us listening in as he released Don’t Act Like You Don’t Care. Azure Ray‘s Maria Taylor has her solo effort Overlook out and while being a new project for the Dutchess & the Duke’s Jesse Lortz, Case Studies’ arrival with The World Is Just a Shape to Fill the Night shouldn’t be overlooked.
On the side project end of releases, Mister Heavenly‘s Out Of Love contains something from a new trio: Man Man’s Ryan Kattner, Modest Mouse’s Joe Plummer, and Islands’ Nick Thorburn. It’s an interesting combo off of SubPop, so check the album out here.
Phenomenal vocalists break through this week as well with their respective groups. Blue Octobers’ Justin Furstenfeld and The Chocolate Horse’s Jason Snell have the willful lyrics to pace a group. The albums from Blue October (Any Man In America) and The Chocolate Horse (Beast) are worth picking up just to hear the lead singers control a song or two.
