Video: James Pants – ‘Clouds Over the Pacific’
According to Tyler from Odd Future, James Pants is “one of the most creative fucking people to walk this earth.” Check out the video for his pulsing slow-burner single, Clouds Over the Pacific, and decide for yourself. Here’s the amazing thing: the video is the result of a collaboration between Pants and the semi-legendary Iasos, one of the guys who literally invented New Age music in the 1970s. Iasos’ discography includes such titles as “Sacred Sonic Tools” and “Liquid Crystal Love.” His belief in dated Geocities aesthetics as a tool for enhanced spirituality is no joke, as you can tell from his amazing website. The irony-free Iasos has been using the same exact visual style for forty years, long enough that tie-dye kaleidoscopes can now be reclaimed as hip by savvy collaborators like James Pants. Prepare for flashbacks. Clouds Over the Pacific is from James Pants’ self-titled album on Stones Throw Records.
