Ivan and Alyosha to Kick Off Tour with Aimee Mann in NY 1/14

By on 01/09/2012 – 12:19 PMNo Comment

Seattle-based folk band Ivan and Alyosha have racked up a considerable amount of praise for their 2011 EP Fathers Be Kind.  They played about 150 shows around the US in support of the album, opening for the likes of Brandi Carlile, Aimee Mann, and Hey Rosetta!.  Since the release of their first EP, The Verse, The Chorus in 2009, their sharp rise in notoriety when NPR featured them in their All Songs Considered preview of SXSW 2010, and the success of their second EP, the quartet has started writing and recording their first full-length album.

The group, whose name is apparently derived from characters in Dostoyevsky’s “Brothers Karamazov”, has just as much sensibility to write a delicate verse that unravels like smoke from a dying flame as they do to pound out an upbeat, sing-along chorus.  Ivan and Alyosha will be going on tour supporting Aimee Mann starting January 14th.  They are definitely a band to listen out for in 2012.
