MUF’s Top 25 Albums of 2011

By on 01/31/2012 – 10:42 AM2 Comments

We know you lost sleep over the course of last month, waiting patiently, racking your brain to see what we could possibly list as our favorite albums of 2011.  We lost sleep too, compulsively checking our lists twice and perhaps after a fist fight or two, we settled on 25 firm choices.  After all, who listens to as much music as us?  Who actually has time to listen to put together a valid top 25 list with no filler?  We’re fairly certain that most other sites don’t include at least a handful of the albums listed on none other than our top lists and that is only because we really dig through the massive amounts of music we receive and give that deserved attention when due.  We did not compile this list looking at what every other music blog posted.

Consider this list of the best 25 albums of 2011 your standard for music recognition for the past year.  We hope you enjoy these fantastic albums as much as we did.  If you feel we missed something, feel free to give us a shout in the comments below!  If you missed our top 100 singles for 2011, check them out here.

  • Emily says:

Ah! I love these picks. Truly, well done and interesting choices. Of course my only point of contention is that Florence should be number one. I may be a bit bias, though, since I want to have like 10,000 of her babies.

  • Brendan says:

Emily, you crack me up! Thanks for your feedback. Honestly, I’m pulled so strongly into certain types of electro-inspired tracks, Tycho could have my vote for #1 had those other four not gotten in the way. I think ‘Dive’ is such an understated album much like the music of Immoor is.
