Wow – what a week.  First off, Interpol’s frontman, Paul Banks, blindsided us with Julian Plenti Lives…, which is the follow-up to his Julian Plenti is… Skyscraper album.  No idea his 5-track EP was due today.  We fell in love with Banks’ last album and more particularly with “Only If You Run” back in 2009, which made our top 100 tracks for the year.  This one will surely be worth listening.

There are so many others we could mention in the second spot, but I’ll justify that by breifly giving credit to The Cinematic Orchestra who has been kicking out wonderful chillout tunes since 1999.  This is their first album in five years!

You’ll also want to listen to A Place To Bury Strangers‘ album Worship, Soundtrack To Our Lives‘ Throw It To The Universe and perhaps someone called The Flaming Lips whose highly anticipated album Flaming Lips & Heady Fwends is out today.

There’s lots of “hey, I know that band” bands this week too, such as Blues Traveller, Linkin Park and Offspring.  So many of these bands are releasing new albums that I feel like I just took a step back into the late 90s.  Enjoy this week’s new music!
