New Music Releases For Tuesday 10/23/2012

Look at this guy just doing all kinds of incredible things whenever he feels like it.  Paul Banks has been there and done that.  He even put out an EP earlier this year titled Julian Plenti Lives…, which worked as some sort of segway away from his first album …Skyscraper to Banks.  While we’re still listening to “Only If You Run’, Banks is back with his latest solo album tritely titled Banks.  The album is full of lush atmosphere, even some violin.  We love everything Interpol does, so why not just give their frontman another chance?

Faded Paper Figures held the key to one of our most anticipated indie-pop albums this year.  They announced just a few hours ago that The Matter is out today.  For more on that go here.

This week also has lots of other good new music, including some traditional bands we’ve heard immense things about, particularly Bat For Lashes, whose The Haunted Man comes out just in time for Halloween.  Their single below “All Your Gold” is now over a million plays on Soundcloud!  Also, the pop-laden duo that is Holy Ghost! are back with their single “It Gets Dark”.

Black Moth Super Rainbow (from Pittsburgh) continue their tour as they promote their album Cobra Juicy.  There’s so much more to go through, but it would be unfair to point out one more band.  With that we wish you godspeed on your weekly music adventure below.

Will you guys ever have mp3 songs instead of soundcloud? I hate Soundcloud and just wanna leave a site when I see them in place of mp3s. Jus curious

@katedfdf Hi there... Soundcloud is a great medium because it takes the legal restraints away from hosting MP3s on our website.  Years back, we were shut down for doing so and honestly the risk isn't worth it.

We do have a Weekly Download, which is all MP3s and we do occasionally just put an MP3 in there.  Most of the time, however Soundcloud will allow the download if the artist enables it.

I do have a solution for you - not that we use it - but there are extensions or apps for Google Chrome in the 'Chrome Web Store' that forces a download button within the Soundcloud player.

It's tricky business, so we hope you can understand.  Thanks for visiting us, and please keep the feedback coming!
