New Music Releases for Tuesday 1/15/2013

This week’s relatively unknown list meant we uncovered some gems. She & the Sun (above) shed an admirable start to the second week of the year with their self-titled album and several other artists go outside their original groups to devise some delicious medleys.

The duo of She & the Sun was formed out of step-siblings Andy Stack and Melissa Ahem, creating a chill, melodic walk of vocals, backlaid guitars and simple electronic rhythms.

From the now defunct group Girls, Christopher Owens adds to his career with Lysandre. With an acoustic guitar and a soft voice, he adds another gentle facet to this week’s releases.

The energetic edge of this week goes to Erin McKeown and Manifestra. This Winter she already has a ton of shows lined up all the across the US and in the UK. Find her tour dates here.

Finally, don’t miss Criminal Hygiene‘s somewhat self-titled album CRMNL HYGNE. This garage rock band from Los Angeles has it all – deep bass, clamoring drums and classic vocals. Check out their link below for their Bandcamp page and enjoy the week in music!
