New Music Releases For Tuesday 2/5/2013
  • On 02/05/2013

Now that we’ve reached February, we’re hitting the ground running with lots of releases. The rule of thumb is, the closer we get to SXSW (March 8-17), the more music we will see. As a side note, SXSW is pitted in the perfect time of the year – early enough for bands who released their music in the prior months to showcase their new stuff and at just the right time for artists to promote their coming Spring and Summer albums.

But enough about SXSW since we’re focused on new music today. There is much more than we’ve seen in prior weeks, particularly with a few of our favorite artists who we’ve seen time and time again as well as some very new ones we found quite good. Let’s just say right now that Matt Pond PA will have our ear for at least one spin – his latest album titled The Lives Inside The Lines In Your Hand already shows some promise per the Soundcloud track below.

While we’re talking about our favorite artists, Frightened Rabbit surely deserves mention. The band is out with is out with their fourth album titled Pedestrian Verse. MMJ’s Jim James is out with his solo album titled Regions Of Light & Sound Of God and Bjork fans will be elated to see Bastards out today.

But as it is comforting to look at artists we’ve grown to love, its just as important to look at some of this week’s new guys or bands we just haven’t been exposed to. This includes Boats, Darkstar, Dog Bite and Night Beds – all of which are certainly worth listening to. Enjoy this week’s heavy dose of new music!
