New Music Releases for Tuesday 3/12/2013

With SXSW in full swing, we’ll start off this week’s list with Austin’s own Courrier and quickly shift to some showcase groups in the area this week. The alt-rock foursome have brought their melodic energy forth with their sophomore album, Cathedrals of Color.

Philadelphia’s Gracie, AKA Andrew Theodore Balasia, went to Austin with his grunge rock.  He’ll be playing his new EP Blleeder.  The pair of Natalie Bergman and Elliot Bergman will also make appearances at SXSW as their group Wild Belle.  Take Oh Land and slip in the Thievery Corporation’s funk line and Wild Belle should be somewhere nearby.

Outside of Austin, The VIrgins remain a solid choice for any occasion.  Strike Gently means more of the 60s-style rock and funky rock that has turned the New York group into a regular in cities across the US.

London’s Rachel Zeffira releases her Deserters album today.  Her voice and the instrumental accompaniments touch a place not many albums dare go, as it captures a patient-listener’s attention and sticks with them for a while.  Unfortunately, her tour dates are few and far between.

Enjoy the week in music!
